Evaluation of shoot day

Before the shoot day Liv and I set up the screen for the performance element. This is us assembling this on the left. This was really quite simple however it took a lot of time to do as we had to make sure it was straight with no creases and get everything in place. We didn't have to set up much more as this element was just them performing with the window as the background however the main thing was lighting but the man who helps us with the lighting was not there so we had to wait until the day of the shoot to sort this out.
When I woke up on shoot day I felt very prepared as I had got all the props we needed together the night before in my car so all I had to do was wake up and check everything was okay. I collected a band member that morning before arriving at school so she could get to the shoot. The other band member, Will, got here at 9am so he didn't have to wait around and we could start shooting as soon as he got here.
As George, the lighting guy wasn't there we had to sort out the lighting in the morning and when we checked the lighting there were shadows on the frame that we did not want therefore we had to take of what we had done the day before and put it on the other side of the frame. This took a while and was annoying but we had to get it done so we all helped. Then as soon as we were ready to start shooting and had got Will and Tertia in their places, we mopped the floor so it gave a reflective view on the floor instead of it being plain black. Before we started recording I looked in the camera and then stood back to look at the set to make sure everything was how we wanted it.
When we started shooting we all moved around roles to an extent. Layla made sure the set looked good and was looking into the camera to make sure the band looked good, if they didn't she would touch up their make up (above right). Liv also made sure the set looked right, Franchi was in charge of the clapper board and I was on the camera as was Franchi for some of it. We all helped and moved around the set though and everybody was included. I thought that I took control of situations when everyone got tired and I wanted to get everybody working so we could go back with good footage and be happy with our shoot day.
There wasn't any massive problems on shoot day and I was really pleased with the outcome of the day. The major problem which made us get off to a slow start was probably the shadow on the frame which we had to redo. The most successful part of the shoot was the performance element at the beginning of the day. This set went really well and Will and Tertia were very co-operative and excited at the beginning of the day. The part of the shoot I wish had gone better was the element where Tertia was on the bed with a sheet in front of the camera, I didn't feel that enough was going on and looking back at the footage there wasn't enough however we will be able to work around this in the editing to make it look good. I think we all managed the band well and they were easy to manage because it was their song so they knew what to do however I think they were quite shocked at the idea that they had to perform to a camera with everyone watching but as the day went on they eased up in front of the camera and they were really good for us.
The part of the shoot I enjoyed the most was the last element which is shown below. The double speed track worked really well and Tertia sang it well too. The glitter confetti was a great success and I was in control of the camera in this set and I loved being in control but I also listened to everyone else so they could tell me what I needed to shoot and where I needed to be place.
I am most looking forward to seeing the element where Tertia is lying on the bed as I am hoping it looks better in camera and we have more to work with because that will work really well if it does work as it is an aesthetically pleasing element.
Our group works really well together and I feel we were really successful as a group. We all have very strong personalities and want to be heard and this is good because we all listen too and then by putting everyones ideas together we can great the best outcome.
If I made a music video again I would make sure there are at least 3 and probably 4 very strong elements that link together so the editing side of the video doesn't become repetitive. I feel our video went well but it would be even better if we had more elements to work with.
Including the website and digipak I feel that all our elements work very well together, the colour schemes work and they all look good together. I am pleased with our shoot and how everything worked.
